David Stockton Joins the Kings for NBA Summer League
Gonzaga alum David Stockton will join the Sacramento Kings for the 2015 NBA summer league in Las Vegas. At the end of last season Stockton signed a two year contract with the Kings. This contract includes the end of the 2014-15 season and goes through the 2015-16 season. He proved himself in the D-League with the Reno Bighorns and was eventually brought up to the Kings toward the end of the season.
In one of his most impressive games, Stockton finished with 37 points and 22 assists! Here is a video with highlights from that game. Check out this video for his D-League highlights. Here is a video of a game against the Lakers back on April 15 where Stockton finished with five points and seven assists.
I’m impressed with Stockton’s progression. He has greatly improved his shooting, especially from behind the arc. His passing is better than ever as well.

The Kings took on the Toronto Raptors in their first game of the 2015 NBA Summer League on Friday, July 10. The Raptors ended up winning 90-68. Stockton did not get any minutes in this game. Upon watching the game I realized that David Stockton was on the bench and not suited up. My theory for why this occurred is because Stockton already has a contract in place and he isn’t a rookie. I think that the Kings must be more interested in looking at rookies and players who have not signed contracts with the team yet.
I believe that Stockton will probably get some playing time at some point during this Summer League season. The Kings play the Nuggets on Sunday, July 12 at 5:00 pm PT. They will also take on the Warriors on Monday, July 13 at 3:30 pm PT.
