8. San Diego

Last Week: 10

Record: 11-9 (2-5)

RPI: 191

KenPom: 150

Place in Conf. Standings: 8

After an ice-cold start to the conference season, the Toreros are starting to heat up. San Diego has won 2 of its last 4 games (which doesn’t sound that impressive, but based on how the Toreros were playing earlier in conference play it is) and its two losses were by a combined 6 points, one of which was decided at the buzzer.

The Toreros, who were predicted to finish fifth in the conference this season according to the preseason coaches’ poll, are starting to become competitive in the WCC once again. Star guard Johnny Dee has been streaky, but based on last game it appears he has found his stride. Point guard Christopher Anderson is slowly emerging from his slump as well. The Toreros are a team that is trending on an upward trajectory, and we could see USD slowly climb up the WCC standings as well as West Coast Convo’s power rankings if they keep it up.
