Mark Tollefsen (San Francisco)
At the start of last season, Tollefsen was a guy that appeared to be lost in the shuffle in coach Rex Walters post rotation. In the first game of the season, Tollefsen only played four minutes in a loss to Stanford. However, things really started to change in the latter half of the season, and Tollefsen emerged as one of the main contributors on the 2012-2013 Dons.
In the last five games of the season, which included matchups against LMU twice, Pepperdine, San Diego, and Northern Kentucky, Tollefsen averaged 16.4 points and 4.2 rebounds per game for the Dons. Tollefsen was arguably the most productive player in the WCC during this stretch, and Dons fans are extremely excited about what is in store for Tollefsen this season.
It looked like Tollefsen really got a feel for the style of play in the WCC in the latter end of the season, and his stats are evident of that. It will be interesting to see if the sophomore big carries his success last season into the 2013-2014 season, or if he is stricken with a sophomore slump. I predict the former.
