David Stockton Gets A Chance With Wizards

The Washington Post as well as Zagaholic have reported that former Gonzaga guard David Stockton will get a chance to play in the NBA with the Washington Wizards.

Stockton has made the Wizards’ training camp roster.  This is big news for Zag fans and for the city of Spokane as a whole.

He will still have to compete with other players to make the squad.  The Washington Post states, “Stockton, one of six non-roster training camp invitees, gives the Wizards the maximum 20 players allowed to attend training camp per NBA rules. Vander Blue, Xavier Silas, Damion James, Rasual Butler, and Daniel Orton are the other five players invited.”

I’m excited for Stockton and I really hope that he makes a good impression.  It would be amazing to see him follow in his dad’s footsteps.

I watched Stockton play a little bit with Phoenix during the summer league.  He looked stronger, like he had put on some muscle.  It was also great to see him playing alongside Elias Harris again.

It will be a good experience for Stockton even if he doesn’t make the team.  He will gain valuable experience playing with an NBA club that I’m sure will be helpful for his career wherever he plays.
