WCC in the Vegas Summer League: Quarterfinal Action

It’s now lose or go home in the Las Vegas Summer League, and four former WCC players are looking to help keep their teams alive. Here is how these player’s fared:
Mickey McConnell and the Charlotte Hornets defeated the New York Knicks by a score of 82-79, advancing further in the tournament. McConnell started at point guard for the Hornets, scoring seven points, dishing out six assists and grabbing four boards in the win.
The Hornets will play the Washington Wizards tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. PST in the semifinals.
The Hawks were eliminated today, losing to the Rockets 78 to 71. Stephen Holt once again started at the guard position, scoring six points, grabbing two boards and dishing out two assists.
With the loss, the Holt and the Hawks are done with the NBA summer league. During his time in Vegas, Holt averaged 8.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists, making three starts in five games.
The Sacramento Kings move on in the Las Vegas Summer League, handily defeating the top-seeded Chicago Bulls by a score of 80-61. Former Pepperdine forward and WCC Defensive Player of the Year played very well in limited minutes, scoring 10 points and snagging five boards.
Lane and Kings play again at 5:00 p.m. PST in a semifinal game against the Houston Rockets.
The San Antonio Spurs lost a triple overtime thriller tonight, losing to the Washington Wizards by a score of 95-94. Austin Daye, who started at power forward, scored 27 points – leading the Spurs – and pulled down seven rebounds in the loss.
Daye’s summer league is now over, and Daye put up some solid numbers, although he was not very efficient. The former Gonzaga forward averaged 16.3 points and 6.0 rebounds in six games during the summer league.
