A whopping 10 WCC players were dressed today for their respective summer league teams. Here is how they fared.
Matthew Dellavedova once again got the start for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the team’s second summer league game. The former Saint Mary’s star struggled to score – three points on one of three shooting – but dished out seven assists with only two turnovers.
Steven Gray suited up for the Cavaliers but did not play.
Dellavedova faced off against former Gonzaga forward Austin Daye, who started for the Spurs at power forward. Daye struggled once again shooting from the field, scoring 10 points on three of 11 shooting. He did chip in five rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block, however. The Cavaliers took the win by a score of 82-70.
Anthony Ireland played about eight minutes for the Los Angeles Lakers in a 90-73 loss. Ireland did not attempt a shot during his time on the court, scored a point off a free throw, grabbed a rebound and dished out an assist during the loss.
Brendan Lane (Sacramento Kings) and Mickey McConnell (Charlotte Hornets) faced off in a summer league game today, with Lane’s Kings getting the best of McConnell’s Hornets by a score of 72-65.
Unfortunately Lane posted a DNP, as the Kings stuck to a shorter rotation. McConnell started for the Hornets but struggled, scoring only four points on one of six shooting and turning the ball over four times. McConnell did chip in three assists, a rebound and a steal on the bright side.
Stephen Holt and Matt Bouldin were both dressed for the Atlanta Hawks and the D-League All-Stars respectively in their summer league matchup, but neither saw action on the court. The D-League All-Stars took down the Hawks 94-92 in double overtime.
Former Gonzaga teammates David Stockton and Elias Harris dressed for the Phoenix Suns in their matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks in one of the night caps in Las Vegas. Harris got the start at power forward and played well; the former Gonzaga star scored 14 points on four of six shooting, snagged three boards and chipped in an assist and a steal in a 93-82 win over Jabari Parker and the Bucks.
David Stockton once again did not play for the Suns.
