Another day has come and gone in the Orlando Summer League and former Gonzaga star Kelly Olynyk stuffed the stat sheet once again in his quest to earn more minutes for the upcoming NBA season while playing for the Boston Celtics summer league team.  Olynyk finished with 15 points on 5/13 shot attempts, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 turnovers, and 6 fouls.  He once again showed the ability to score in transition, off the dribble, and in the mid range game, although he could have converted more of the attempts he had.

While he did show off the guard skills he acquired in high school before his growth spurt, he did struggle defensively against Pacers’ bigs Kevin Jones and Willie Reed.  Through two games, it would have been nice to see more consistency, better efficiency, and more signs of defensive improvement for Olynyk.  He hasn’t dominated as much as he should be if he wants to be the starting center for Boston next season, but he still as a few games to change that.

In other WCC Orlando Summer League news, Matt Bouldin was cut from the Orlando Magic summer league roster shortly before the games started on July 5th, but he will still be playing for the D League Select team in the Las Vegas Summer League from July 11-21 along with a host of other WCC alumni.
