The most recent coaching change for the LMU Lions has been really tough on its current roster as of late. Three players have left the program and four out of the five players in the Lions 2014 recruiting class have decided to play elsewhere.

The Lions and Mike Dunlap got some good news for the first team in his very short tenure, as David Humphries from North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) pledged to Loyola Marymount yesterday.

Humphries is the second commit in LMU’s 2014 recruiting class and the first player brought in by Dunlap himself. 10 scholarship players now make up LMU’s roster with the addition of Humphries.

Humphries is a 6-foot-4 wing that based on his statistics can do a multitude of things well on the basketball court. The Adelaide, Australia native averaged 20.6 points, 7.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists in the 2012-2013 season. There are no statistics from his 2013-2014 season available on the internet.

While at North Iowa Area Community College, which plays in the division II level in Junior College, Humphries received offers from Idaho State, Nicholls State, James Madison and Youngstown State and interest from Washington State, Quinnipiac and Wyoming.

LMU’s backcourt – which is in pretty good shape despite the turbulent spring – just got another boost with Humphries. He will join Evan Payne, Ayodeji Egbeyemi, Chase Flint and C.J. Blackwell. He is not expected to be a starter, but he should come off the bench and play a significant role for the Lions.

His highlight tape is embedded below. Humphries showcases his innate ability to score in the video. Watch it to get an idea of what kind of player LMU is getting.
