It was an exciting day on the recruiting front for Gonzaga yesterday, and here is a brief recap of what took place.
Byron Wesley Cuts to Three
Highly coveted transfer Byron Wesley has named the final three schools he’s considering yesterday. Gonzaga made the cut, along with Pittsburgh and Oklahoma State.
The former USC Trojan also announced the dates he is visiting. He will trip to Spokane on May 9th, the day students commence school and complete their final exams.
Interest between Wesley and the Bulldogs first started to pick up steam when Wesley’s father proclaimed that Gonzaga was the frontrunner for his services, from his point of view. Although his father’s input should be taken with a grain of salt, it seems as if there is a great deal of mutual interest materializing between the 6-foot-5 guard and GU.
Kendall Small Commits to Oregon
This comes as really no surprise, but 2014 Mayfield high school (Anaheim, Calif.) point guard Kendall Small picked Oregon last night over Gonzaga and San Diego State. Portland was once in his top five as well.
It was not too long ago Small and Bulldogs were suspected to have a lot of mutual interest, but that has cooled since then.
It is certainly not a devastating loss, but losing out on a recruit is never a great feeling.
