In the second day of the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, David Stockton and Anthony Ireland both experienced team success and will meet each other in the championship game tomorrow at 5 p.m. PST.
Ireland’s team Norfolk Sport Club dominated Roger Brown’s Restaurant, winning by a score of 88-67. Despite leading 62-36 at halftime, Stockton’s team, Sales System LTD, hung on to the win with a final score 92-86.
Individually, Stockton and Ireland both got the start for their respective teams after coming off the game in first round action. Ireland had a tough day from the field, shooting two for nine en route to scoring nine points. Despite the poor shooting, Ireland had five assists – with zero turnovers – and three rebounds.
Stockton did not make a significant impact for Sales System LTD, scoring six points, grabbing two rebounds and three assists. Unlike last game, the prolific shot blocker did not record a single block.
The final of the PIT will feature two WCC players. Irelands’ team features former Northwestern Wildcat Drew Crawford, Providence Friar Kadeem Batts and Penn State Nittany Lion Tim Frazier. Stockton’s squad features former Marquette Golden Eagle Davente Gardner, Illinois Illini Markel Starks and national champion and former UConn Husky Neils Giffey. As alluded above, the game will be at 5 p.m. PST. You can watch the livestrem here.
