In a weird year, where a hot start propelled the Gaels to a 9-0 record before the seemingly fell off the face of the Earth (at least the March Madness picture), it is hard to put the blame on the shoulders of Stephen Holt. The senior point guard put up solid numbers throughout the year and for that reason, he is a Top-5 PG in the WCC. However, many people expected Holt to “will” the Gaels to victory this year, and while there were instances where he did just that (at Boise State, at Santa Clara, vs. Utah), there were times where defenses took him out of the picture and his teammates were unable to get the job done. Stephen Holt could have been one of the few Gaels to be part of three consecutive NCAA tournaments; sadly that was not the case. The senior point guard does leave behind a strong legacy and it wouldn’t be a shock if he works his way into an NBA rotation in the future.
