Kevin Pangos – Guard – Gonzaga
Whether he is putting up big numbers or not, Gonzaga junior Kevin Pangos demands attention on every single defensive possession for opposing defenses. If he is not accounted for, Pangos has the skills to absolutely torch the net.
His numbers have been slightly down this season, and that is largely due to a nagging turf toe injury. Nevertheless, Pangos is toughing it out and making an impact for an NCAA tournament bound team.
Pangos’ influence to this Gonzaga team is not defined by his scoring like it has been in year’s past. Instead, his leadership and maturity is Pangos’ biggest contributions.
The toe injury has had a clear effect on his offensive game, but he is making up for it in the aforementioned ways. In the month of November, when Kevin Pangos was reportedly free of any limitations, he was averaging 22.0 points while shooting 52.2 percent from the field. Post-November, when Pangos was reportedly first introduced to his turf toe injury, he has averaged just over 12 points a game while shooting 39.8 percent from the field.
While Pangos is not scoring at the clip he was at the start of the season, he still has played 30-plus minutes in every single one of the Zags conference games and a 2.1 assist-to-turnover ratio as well.
