Stephen Holt – Guard – Saint Mary’s
While Saint Mary’s had a bit of a down season for its standards, Stephen Holt is far from the reason why.
Many national pundits and fans alike pondered on who could possibly take over the Gaels point guard duties after Matthew Dellavedova graduated. Holt stepped up, took the job and played admirably in the wake of Dellavedova.
Holt primarily played off the ball during his first three seasons at Saint Mary’s. Holt is naturally a point guard anyways, but head coach Randy Bennett was forced to play him alongside Dellavedova due to his vast skill set.
As the lead-guy, Holt had his best season from a statistical standpoint. During the regular season, Holt was the Gaels second leading scorer (14.9 PPG) and leading assist man (4.0 APG). Holt is also the only Saint Mary’s to play more than 30 minutes a game this season (37.9 MPG) and was third on the team in rebounding with 3.9 rebounds per game.
