Jeremy Major – Guard – Pepperdine
The only true point guard on the WCC all-freshman team is Pepperdine’s Jeremy Major.
In the summer, I wrote an article about five incoming freshman I expected to make an impact this season. I don’t remember who I put on my list off the top of my head, but I do remember a commenter posting a comment that read along these lines; “I’m sure all of these guys will have good seasons, but Jeremy Major will be on there by the end of the season.”
That commenter was dead-on.
Major assumed the Waves ball handling duties from game one, and displayed his promise and overall talent throughout the whole season.
While his stats won’t jump right out you, keep in mind this he is a true freshman playing the toughest position one call play as a basketball player. The Pasadena, Calif. product averaged 9.1 points and 4.5 assists this season while only turning the ball of 2.2 times per game.
Even though Major went through a slump at the end of the season, the future of the Waves under Major appears as bright as the gleaming Californian sunlight.
