After coming out victorious in 17 previous matchups, the San Francisco Dons finally upended Saint Mary’s, defeating the Gaels by a score of 73-62.
The Dons took control of the game midway through the first half, and never looked back. A 25-11 run to end the first half put USF up 33-23 at halftime. After that point, San Francisco cruised to an 11 point victory.
A lot of the Dons success tonight can be attributed to Matt Glover, Kruize Pinkins and Mark Tollefsen. The trio each scored 16 points, and were go-to-scorers for the Dons in a very important game. Cole Dickerson led USF in rebounding with 7 rebounds. Avry Holmes 5 assists were a team-high for San Francisco tonight.
Brad Waldow led the Gaels tonight with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Garrett Jackson had a nice game off the bench, putting up 13 points and snagging seven rebounds, both of which were second its respective category for Saint Mary’s tonight. The Gaels only had five assists total tonight, which were all distributed out to five different players.
The victory propels San Francisco to third place in the conference standings, while Saint Mary’s falls to fourth. Saint Mary’s travels to Santa Clara for a meet up with the Broncos, a team that has already defeated the Gaels this season, and the Dons host the Pacific Tigers.
