The San Diego Toreros could not quite completely turn their season around. After a narrow loss to the Zags’ in the Kennel, the Toreros notched convincing victories against Portland in the Chiles Center and against the Gaels at home. Unfortunately for USD, a hangover ensued and the Toreros lost to the Pacific Tigers by 17 points.
Despite the loss, Johnny Dee continued his hot shooting. A brief slump plagued Dee and the Toreros earlier in conference play, but since then he has regained his confidence. The junior guard has averaged 19.4 points over the last five games on a field-goal percentage of .580. His resurgence has been an overlying factor foor USD’s recent improved play.
The Toreros will host two bay area schools next – Santa Clara and San Francisco – with hopes of getting back on track after falling to Pacific on Saturday.
