After a tough loss to a surging BYU squad, the Dons responded very nicely with a last second victory against San Diego. Avry Holmes nailed a mid-range jumper with .5 seconds remaining on the clock to propel the Dons over the Toreros. The Dons needed to win to keep pace with Pepperdine, who won earlier in the day against Portland.

Despite all of drama surrounding the Dons just before conference play, they have played with a great deal mental toughness. USF looks more stable now than they have all season. The Dons host Gonzaga at War Memorial Gymnasium the week after next, and a win against the Zags could force San Francisco into the top three of the WCC.
