The Portland Pilots claimed the title of “best college basketball team in Portland” this week when they defeated Portland State by a score of 92-76.

The Pilots have started to find their identity as the season has progressed. Dutch big man Thomas Van der Mars has recorded a double-double in 3 of the Pilots last 6 games, and is turning into a go-to-scorer and consistent rebounder for the Pilots. Alec Wintering is turning the point guard that they wished they had in the past few season. In Portland’s last 3 games, Wintering has an assist to turnover ratio of 3.8 to 1.

The Pilots only play once during the week (December 15th against Montana State), and will regroup and rest before the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic.
