8. Portland

Record: 5-3

Wins: UC Davis, Idaho, Columbia, San Jose State, Southern Utah

Losses: Oregon State, Michigan State, North Texas

Movement: Down 1

The Pilots have impressed a few people, but a discouraging loss to North Texas has prevented the Pilots to move in the conversation for the top half of the WCC.

Thomas van der Mars has been a huge bright spot for Portland this season. The Dutch big man is averaging 15.6 points and 7.8 rebounds since our last power rankings. If Van der Mars can keep playing this well throughout the rest of the season, he and senior forward Ryan Nicolas could combine to be the best frontcourt in the WCC.
