10. Santa Clara

Record: 2-4

Wins: Bethesda, San Jose State

Losses: Cal State Fullerton, Notre Dame, North Dakota State, Rice

Movement: Down 1

The Broncos find themselves on a four game losing skid, even with senior point guard Evan Roquemore returning to action after being sidelined with a lower back injury.

The lowlight of their losing streak was this past weekend’s Cable Car Classic. Santa Clara dropped games to North Dakota State and Rice, and finished in last place at a tournament that they hosted. Other than Chaminade at the Maui Invitational, I can’t think of that happening at any other tournament off the top of my head.

There have been some bright spots, however. Freshman Jared Brownridge and junior guard Brandon Clark have been playing some fantastic basketball as of late. Clark is averaging 19.0 points to lead the Broncos in scoring, and is also averaging 3.5 assists. Brownridge is second on Santa Clara in scoring with 16.5 points per game, and the freshman is shooting the long ball with a 45.5 percent success rate.

With games at Cal State Bakersfield and Cal Poly coming up, the Broncos will need to make Roquemore the center of the offense again in order to get back on track.
