Gonzaga University has a history of being successful in the Maui Invitation. In three appearances, the Bulldogs have a combined 6-3 record, has finished 1st, 2nd, and 4th in the tournament, has had 3 players be named the MVP of the tournament (Adam Morrison ’05, Matt Boldin ’09, and Steven Gray ’09).

The Bulldogs will look and continue that success in this season, but with a field of quality opponents that will not be easy. Gonzaga at Dayton square off in the first round of the Maui Invitational, and the undefeated Flyers provide the biggest test for the Zags thus far in this short season.

The Dayton Flyers are traditionally a pretty good team, and they will provide Gonzaga a decent test tonight.

The Flyers have recorded 4 wins this season against IPFW, St. Francis (Pa.), St. Francis Brooklyn, and Georgia Tech. Much like Gonzaga, tonight’s game will likely be the Flyers biggest test.

Devin Oliver is Dayton’s big stud on offense. The senior forward is leading the Flyers in points and rebounds with 13.0 points and 7.5 rebounds.
