Coach of the Year – Dave Rose (BYU)
By Andrew Perkins
Dave Rose has established BYU as a consistent winner in his tenure as head coach. He’s notched a 209-66 record and 8 postseason appearances. Last year, the Cougars finished an underwhelming season with a run to the NIT semifinals. Although, when your fan base considers 24-12 an underwhelming season, somebody’s got to be doing something right!
With only five players holding over from last year’s roster, Coach Rose will be faced with the challenge of putting a cohesive unit on the floor. He’s never been shy about shaking up his rotation, and this year may be no different. There is a good chance he’ll go with a 4-guard line-up at times. One thing we do know – the Cougars will be out and running on the offensive end.
The newcomers are a talented bunch, and if Coach Rose can get everybody on the same page, the Cougars may claim their first WCC Championship. If they can pull that off, Rose will most definitely do as this West Coast Convo ballot says he’ll do – be the Coach of the Year.
