The Portland Pilots got their first win of the season in an exhibition game that pitted them against NAIA powerhouse Concordia-Irvine. The Pilots won the game by a score of 92-77. Although the Pilots saw some scares (the Eagles led for a portion of the second half) they ultimately won the game and had a lot of success on the offensive end.
Forward Kevin Bailey led Portland with 19 points on 7-11 shooting, including a perfect 2-2 from beyond the arc. Wintering and Pressley followed with 15 and 13 points respectively.
Bryce Pressley had an all-around great game tonight, racking 13 points and 10 rebounds to record a double-double.
On the Concordia-Irvine side of things, Tim Harris shot the ball a ton. The senior leader for the Eagles scored 23 points to lead all scorers. He also grabbed 3 rebounds and dished out 2 assists.
At halftime, the Pilots found themselves down by 2 points, and the Eagles extended their lead to 9 points in the second half. Portland then finished the game on a 46-22 run to take control of the lead and put the proverbial dagger in Corcordia-Irvine.
The Pilots will play again on November 8th, when they official kick-off the 2013-2014 season against UC Davis.
