In the 21st century, Gonzaga has played daunting non-conference schedules. Last year, the Bulldogs took on a trio of ranked teams in the non-conference slate: Illinois, Butler and Oklahoma State. This year, the Gonzaga fan base’s reaction to the release of the non-conference schedule has been negative. The fans think that Gonzaga is shying away from the elite programs in the nation, and scheduling more average teams. Fans argue that the team will not be tested for the NCAA tournament, and playing a bunch of cupcakes will not toughen them up. However, the discussion of over-scheduling vs. under scheduling is for another time. This post is designed to breakdown the non-conference opponents that Gonzaga will face this season. Enjoy!
