Today, Micah Downs came off the bench to help the Pacers defeat the Philadelphia 76ers by a score of 95 to 75 in the second day of the 2013 Orlando summer league. After a lackluster performance yesterday, Downs played exceptionally well today in the victory. Downs saw an increase in playing time and he did the most with it. The former Gonzaga Bulldog finished with 11 points on 5-7 shooting, which included a 4-5 shooting performance from beyond the arc. He also tallied 2 rebounds in the contest.
Downs was simply feeling it today, as evident by the impressive stat line he composed. He shot the ball from deep with little hesitation, and was able to knock down shots despite having a hand in his face. His most impressive shot of the day was an off balance floater that banked of the glass and in. It was an awkward shot, but Downs utilized the backboard very well and was able to make the shot.
Overall, it was a very impressive performance from Downs today. This is the way the he will have to play if he hopes to make an NBA roster come October. Coming out today with a stellar performance to juxtapose his poor performance from yesterday showed a lot of resiliency to the Pacers organization. His play in the remaining games of the summer league will be a great indication of his chances of making an NBA roster for the 2013-2014 season.
Next Game: Tomorrow, 8 AM PST vs. the Boston Celtics. NBA TV.
