After being named a d-league all-star last season, Micah Downs is attempting to make the next step and play in the association. His long and lanky 6’8″ frame certainly is intriguing to NBA scouts, and he is getting chance to show what he can do by playing in the 2013 NBA summer league with the Indiana Pacers. Today, the Pacers took on the Oklahoma City Thunder in Downs first summer league game of the 2013 season, and it didn’t go as well as Down’s and the Pacer’s had hoped.

The Pacers lost to the Thunder by a score of 76-68. Downs totaled about 9 minutes of action, and only recorded two points. He also had two rebounds, and one turnover. Down’s made little to no impact in this contest, and certainly did not do anything to differentiate himself from the other players competing for a roster spot.

The former Gonzaga Bulldog had a tough time on the defensive end as well. In the second half, while Downs was guarding former Louisville Cardinal Kyle Kuric and he was burned from deep by him several times. He looked lost in that aspect of the game. Downs will have to focus up in order to impress the Pacer’s coaching staff in their next game.

Next Game: 10 AM PST, Pacers vs. 76ers. NBA TV.
