The Torero’s collective efforts against Cal Poly proved to be triumphant in their 8-5 victory over the Mustangs. The Torero’s were extremely effective on the offensive side of things in this matchup: San Diego had 8 runs on only 8 hits against Cal Poly.

Superstar slugger Kris Bryant has found his way on the base path’s by drawing walks in this regional. The junior has walked 4 times in three games. He was presented with a prime opportunity in the sixth inning when he walked up to the plate with the bases loaded and only one out. Unfortunately for Bryant, he struck out in his best opportunity of NCAA Baseball Championships.

The pitchers that pitched in the latter end of this game did a fantastic job of retaining the lead that the San Diego offense got for them. Trevor Bayless and Max Holmick pitched a total of 2.1 innings, and gave up zero runs off two hits. These two players played a significant role in making sure the Torero’s came out of this game with a victory.

San Diego will take on UCLA in the regional final tonight at about 6 PM PT at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The game will once again be televised on ESPN3. The Torero’s will have to regroup quickly and focus on defeating a very solid UCLA team.
