USF Recruiting News: JUCO Forward Kruize Pinkins Signs With USF

facebooktwitterreddit

Over the weekend, the uber athletic Kruize Pinkins decided to take his talents to the bay area and play for Rex Walters and the Dons. San Francisco appeared to beat out the likes of Florida Gulf Coast and Murray State for his services. Not much information can be found on Pinkins, other than a tweet from Alex Kline from RecruitingScoop.com announcing his commitment.

The sophomore averaged 11.4 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game at Chipola College this past season. He also shot 57.8% from the field and 48.5% from three. Based on this stat line, it is evident that Pinkins isn’t necessarily the most assertive offensive player, but does a great deal with the opportunities that are presented to him. The thing that stands out from this stat line is the 48.5% from three. It is not clear about how many attempts were taken, but regardless, 48.5% is a very high percentage. A power forward who can shoot like that brings a great deal of versatility to a teams offense.

Pinkins decided to take the junior college route after his grades were not quite up to snuff with the standards presented by division one colleges. He has been recruited pretty heavily by division one schools, due to his division one caliber talent. Although he has struggled with grades in the past, he is on pace to graduate at Chipola College this spring.

As for playing ability, his main attribute appears to be his athleticism. Opposing power forwards in the WCC could have a really tough time creating offense against a guy with his size (6’8″, 225) and athleticism. He is said to be an above average ball-handler for his position.
