Here is a recap of how the former WCC players fared on the second day of pool play at the FIBA World Cup.

Australia Pounds Korea

After a disappointing start, the Australian Men’s National team bounced back with an 89-55 thrashing of Korea.

Matthew Dellavedova played a team high 23 minutes for the Boomers, providing the squad with a steady presence at the point guard position. The former Saint Mary’s star posted a team-high eight assists and scored seven points in the win.

Dellavedova isn’t going to impress anyone with prolific point totals, but he is going to help Australia with his reliability and his skills as a floor general.

Australia is off tomorrow, but will resume action on Tuesday as the Boomers take on the Lithuanian National Team.

Ukraine Falls to Finland

After an impressive opener, Ukraine faltered against the Finish National Team by a score of 81-76. Eugene Jeter scored a team-high 24 points, and had five points and nine rebounds in the Ukrainian Team’s loss.

Ukraine will resume play on Tuesday after an off-day. The Turkish National Team, which just gave Team USA a decent run for its money in the first three quarters, will take on the Ukrainian National Team in the third game of pool play for Jeter and company.
