Per a release by the university athletic department, the Loyola Marymount men’s basketball team will trip to Spain in August to play basketball and take in the culture.

The trip will take place between August 12 and August 22, with the team arriving in Madrid on the 12th and leaving the 22nd. Four games will be played during the trip.

All but one scholarship player will make the trip over the Atlantic Ocean, with UCF transfer Steven Haney staying in the United States.

This trip makes a lot of sense for a roster with eight total international players. In addition to that, two players – Simon Krajcovic and Petr Herman – played at the Canarias Basketball Academy in Spain, so both players will get a homecoming of sorts.

With a roster consisting of seven new players, a trip of this nature could pay major dividends with team chemistry. The team will be together for an extended period, and the quality time with one another will make everyone much more comfortable with each other by the start of the season.

According to the official LMU men’s basketball website, they will have daily coverage and updates throughout the trip. Make sure you keep an eye out for that.
