In the past few seasons, the San Diego Toreros have struggled mightily with their frontcourt. With the exception of maybe Dennis Kramer, the Toreros have yet to find a consistent offensive presence in the post that can defend and rebound as well.

Although Kramer has since graduated, the Toreros are hoping that a recent addition will help bolster their frontcourt. That addition is former Cal State-Northridge forward Brandon Perry, who transferred to San Diego last spring. After sitting out last season due to NCAA transfer rules, Perry is ready to make his debut for the University of San Diego this upcoming season.

Time at Cal State-Northridge

While at Cal State-Northridge, Perry was a solid contributor off the bench for the Matadors. His 6.3 points per game were fourth on the team and his 3.5 rebounds per game were tied for fourth on the team. His 47.8 percent shooting from the field was, you guessed it, fourth on the team.

Perry appeared in 29 of the Matadors 31 games, playing 14.6 minutes per game. The 6-foot-7 forward did not start a game, but was a high volume body off the bench for Cal State-Northridge during his freshman season.

Impact at San Diego

Perry is big-bodied forward that can give San Diego’s frontcourt yet another body. Based on his numbers at CSUN, Perry will be more than just a hustle player than can contribute a few offensive put-backs and rebounds; he will be a viable option that at the Toreros disposal.

During his redshirt season, Perry reportedly worked on slimming down and conditioning. He’s already listed at 265 on the San Diego official roster after being listed at 275 on the Cal State-Northridge roster.

It’s going to take some adjusting, but Perry is primed to make a considerable impact during his Torero career.
