The Pacific Tigers men’s basketball team landed a commitment from Santa Rosa Junior College guard Alec Kobre, their eighth of the season.

Kobre is fresh off a junior national championship at Santa Rosa JC, and helped push his team over the edge with a 17 point performance in the title game, according to a press release from the university. He was named state tournament MVP for his efforts.

At Santa Rosa, Kobre was the team’s second leading scorer with 15.3 points per game.

The junior to be did not go too far from high school to carry out his first two years of college ball. The 6-3 guard was a star for Montgomery high school in Santa Rosa, Calif before playing at his hometown college.

Santa Rosa JC is nothing new to the Pacific Tigers. Former guards Sama Taku and Lorenzo Mcloud both hail from the prestigious junior college. Portland Pilot guard Bobby Sharp also started out at SRJC.

With seven seniors and a transfer leaving the program, the Tigers have gone the Junior College route in order to fill their eight scholarship. 2014 commits Sami Eleraky, Dulani Robinson and Eric Thompson all are JuCo players.

Kobre will join a fairly inexperienced Pacific backcourt, which will be spearheaded by sophomore’s David Taylor and T.J. Wallace.
