The Portsmouth Invitational Tournament provides college basketball seniors a stage where they can showcase their skills. Two former WCC players, David Stockton and Anthony Ireland, did just that on Wednesday in impressive fashion.

Ireland played in the very first game of the tournament, as his team Norfolk Sports Club edged out K&D Rounds Landscaping in a tight 71-66 finish. While he did not get the start, Ireland played in 26 minutes of action, which was third on the team. Ireland finished with eight points on an efficient four of seven shooting from the field, four rebounds and three assists.

Stockton showed NBA scouts how good of passer he is in his performance. His nine assists and only two turnovers helped Sales System, LTD snag a 79-77 victory in a thrilling finish. Stockton chipped in four points, two rebounds and a surprising two blocks along with his nine assists.

While neither players posted a ridiculous stat-line, both had solid outings that will force NBA scouts to give these two more looks throughout the course of the tournament.

Since both Stockton and Ireland’s teams won on Wednesday, they will play in semifinal games today. Ireland and his team takes the stage first when they take on Roger Brown’s Restaurant, who features UMass’ Chaz Williams, North Dakota State’s Taylor Braun, Texas Southern’s Aaric Murray and Saint Louis’ Jordair Jett.  Stockton and Sales System LTD will face Portsmouth Partnership in its semifinal game, a team that boasts Memphis’ Joe Jackson, Virginia’s Akil Mitchell and Indiana State’s Jake Odum.

Ireland and Norfolk Sports Club plays today at 4 p.m. PST. Stockton plays at 6 p.m. PST. Follow this link for a livestream of the games.
