Gonzaga fended off the Pepperdine Waves in the kennel en route to an 83-68 victory.

The Bulldogs were led by David Stockton and Kevin Pangos in the scoring column. The starting guards scored 18 points apiece in the win. Przemek Karnowski was not far behind with 17 points, and Gary Bell chipped in as well with 11. Karnowski and Bell were the Zags leading rebounder with 7 each. David Stockton gave out 5 assists, a team-high for the Bulldogs.

Pepperdine once again went with a starting lineup that included Jett Raines instead of Stacy Davis. However, this time it didn’t prove to be fortuitous for the Waves. Davis came off of the bench and led Pepperdine in scoring with 14 points. Nikolas Skouen, Brendan Lane and Malcolm Brooks also finished in double-digits with 12, 12 and 11 points respectively. Lane pulled down 6 rebounds and Major dished out 4 assists to lead the team in those specific categories.

Keys of the Game Checklist

Gonzaga

(Check) Przemek Karnowski

Even though it did not seem like it at the start of the game, Karnowski brought it today. His 17 points (a lot of which were in the second half), 7 rebounds, 2 blocks and an uncharacteristic 4 assists were highly beneficial for the Bulldogs tonight. Davis and Lane were not totally kept into check, but did not severely hurt the Bulldogs. A lot of that had to do with Karnowski’s work in the paint tonight.

Pepperdine

Make the most out of every possession

The Waves scored 1.06 points per possession tonight, which was not quite enough to knock off the Bulldogs. Pepperdine’s 13 turnovers had a little bit to do with that as well.

Moving Forward

The Bulldogs win tonight was a needed one after their gut punching loss to Memphis on Thursday night. Pepperdine with travel southwest to take on Portland on Saturday, while the Bulldogs will host LMU for senior night at the McCarthy Athletic Center.
