Well as nice as those wins over Gonzaga and BYU were, the bad taste from the losses is just as bad. Portland got down by as many as 18 pretty early, and while they fought to make it a game, they just couldn’t get enough stops, and enough baskets to have a chance down the stretch.

There are nights like last Thursday when it feels like no matter what happens you’re going to pull out a victory. Then there’s nights like this where you’re team just comes out flat, and the night ends in disappointment.

A few Pilots had solid nights but there was never a flow to the game and every time Portland made a little run, the Dons pushed it back to 10.

It’s too bad that I have had to say this so much this season, but Portland needs to assess where they can improve, make adjustments, and prepare for Santa Clara on Saturday.
