The Saint Mary’s Gaels proved yours truly wrong by knocking off San Francisco by a score of 88-73.

The Gaels were led by senior point guard Stephen Holt, who scored 21 points and 5 assists, both team-highs. Brad Waldow controlled the glass for the Gaels, pulling down 7 rebounds. Every Gael in the starting lineup finished with double-digit points; Holt (21), Levesque (17), Brad Waldow (16), Kerry Carter (14) and Walker III (13).

The Dons were led in scoring by Avry Holmes, who had 17 points. Kruize Pinkins and Mark Tollefsen were not far behind with 16 points. Pinkins also led the Dons on the glass with 9 rebounds. Tollefsen led the Dons in assists with 3.

Keys to the Game Checklist

Due to not being able to watch the game because to a change in Root Sports programming, I don’t have a great feel to how the game went and cannot rightfully judge the keys to the game, same with the matchup of the game.

The Bottom Line

If the visiting Dons were able to knock off the Gaels, they would have been alone atop the WCC standings. Instead, the Dons fall to 4-2 and to second place.

The Dons travel to Provo on Thursday for their next contest. Saint Mary’s will take on Pacific for the second time this season on Saturday.
