San Diego got its third victory of the season and a decent road win tonight when the Toreros knocked off Morgan State 68 to 61.

Like usual, Johnny Dee, or as he should be known; “Johnny Buckets,” scored 19 points today leading the Toreros. Dennis Kramer chipped in 12, and Jito Kok and Christopher Anderson contributed 11 apiece as well.

Duda Sandaze and Kramer led San Diego in rebounding tonight with 7. Anderson was the Toreros leading distributor with 4.

Morgan State’s Justin Black led all scorers with 22, but it was not enough to get the Bears over the hump. He also led the Bears in rebounding with 5.

Stat of the Night

Johnny Buckets’ 19 points tonight lifted him over the 1000 point mark. Dee is 23rd player in Torero history to eclipse 1000 points.

Key’s of the Night Checklist

Control the Pace – Check

The Toreros kept the game remotely slow with the score not reaching the 70’s or 80’s.

Continue the Slump – Check Minus

Ian Chiles had 8 points and 5 rebounds. The Torero’s held him in check for the most part.

The Bottom Line

This was a solid win for the Torero’s, who put away a Morgan State team that was desperate for a victory. Although San Diego does not have a ton of depth (only 6 bench points), the Toreros starters have looked great thus far. However, during WCC play, the Toreros will need to instill a deeper bench.
