The writers at West Coast Convo as you read this are casting their ballots for our 2013-2014 WCC Preseason Awards. Now I know what you’re thinking, “preseason awards are pointless, they are trivial awards designed to stroke the ego of college basketball players, yada yada yada.” Well, like it or not, people are interested in them, and that’s why we are doing our own.

We have done a lot of staff involvement posts in the past, including our top 5 point guards, shooting guards, small forwards, power forwards, centers, and coaches (link them). However, this time around, we want to get the fans opinion heard. That’s right, our faithful readers will hold a vote in these preseason awards.

How to Vote

The following categories will be voted on:

All-WCC First-Team (5 players)

All- WCC Second-Team (5 players)

All-WCC Third-Team (5 players)

WCC MVP

WCC Offensive Player of the Year

WCC Defensive Player of the Year

WCC Predicted Standings (Teams 1-10)

WCC Coach of the Year

All-Freshman Team

Freshman of the Year

Cast your ballot in the comments section below or email me at [email protected].

Two things to Keep in Mind

  1. Keep your vote honest. Before you vote your favorite teams player to the first team, step back and decide if that is the fair option. I expect there to be some favoritism, but if I suspect there is too much bias towards one or two teams, I will cancel the fan vote all together.
  1. Uneducated on a certain category? Either do some research or don’t vote at all. Don’t tarnish your vote by aimlessly giving a player an accolade they do not deserve. If any of you want some insight on any of the categories, contact me on twitter (@WestCoastConvo) or email me at [email protected].

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s ballots! Thanks for your participation.

Voting will end on October 15th at 9 PM PT.

I edited my all-freshman team and got rid of Siame.
