On July 30th, 2014 power forward Jacob Lampkin from Seattle, Wash. received an offer from the University of the Pacific. On September 6th, he made a visit to that said university. Now, on September 8th, Lampkin became the Tigers first commit of the 2014 recruiting class.

Lampkin’s commitment should not come as much of a surprise, considering it was obvious the mutual interest that the Unviersity of the Pacific and Lampkin have had this whole time. To my knowledge, the only school that Lampkin officially visited was Pacific, which says a lot. Other than Pacific, the only WCC School to offer him was Portland, and Santa Clara was showing heavy interest. Lampkin also possessed offers from American and Dartmouth. Do not let the lack of offers fool you, Lampkin was being recruited by some high major schools such as Washington State and Stanford.

Lampkin projects to be more of a project at the next level, and could be a great candidate to redshirt. Lampkin has a skill set that could blossom very nicely at the next level, but it is going to take some work. He needs to hit the weight room in the next few years and get a lot stronger to compete with some of the other post players in the WCC, but he certainly does sport a skill set that could be lethal in the college ranks.
