No. 5- Tim Derksen (San Francisco)

By James Stapleton

Tim will be going into his sophomore year at San Francisco in 2013-2014. Last year, he came up big as a freshman leader. Derksen started in the first 25 games for the Dons and found minutes in each game USF played during the 2012-2013 campaign. Derksen was second on the Dons in rebounds and fourth on the team in total points for the 2012-2013 campaign. Tim plays well under coach Rex Walters and even finds compares his coach to his father.

"“My dad was very tough on me, but he always got the best out of me. Coach Walters is the same way. We’d all run through a brick wall for him. We do everything we can to get better each and every day. They are both great motivators.” -Tim Derksen"

As Tim played under his father in high school, he won the Arizona Gatorade 5A Player of the Year award. With a year of WCC play under his belt, Derksen will use his confidence built last season as a tool to contribute to the Green & Gold squad this year.
