Everyone loves a good combo-guard, and that is exactly what Sandy Cohen is. The 6’5″ guard from Seymour, Wisconsin has garnered a great deal of interest from high level division one programs. Gonzaga has recently started to recruit Cohen very hard, and now it appears Gonzaga is in the running for the guard’s services. According to this article from the Green Bay Press Gazette, Cohen listed his top 3 schools as Marquette, Minnesota, and Gonzaga.

Recruitment and Ranking

According to Rivals, Cohen is a four star prospect, and the 93rd ranked recruit in the nation. Cohen reportedly has offers from Marquette, Minnesota, Illinois, Purdue, Gonzaga, Florida State, Rutgers, Wake Forest, Providence, Auburn, Creighton, George Washington, Green Bay, La Salle, Memphis, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and North Dakota.

Scouting Report

Cohen is a long and lanky guard that does most of his damage on the perimeter. He is a point guard in a shooting guard’s body; Cohen can really pass the basketball and loves distributing to his teammates. He possesses great composure around the rim, and can finish with ease. Often times he will drive into the lane and kick out to open teammates. Cohen has a fluid stroke from deep and also has a nice floater in his arsenal.

Gonzaga’s Chances

Marquette is definitely the strong favorite for landing Cohen, but Gonzaga still has a chance. It might be small, but they have a chance. According to 247 sports, Gonzaga offered Cohen on June 7th, and have been just recently recruiting Cohen hard. They appear to be gaining a good amount of momentum in Cohen’s recruitment, but it will be interesting to see if they can gain enough to knock off the acknowledged favorite, the Marquette Eagles. Cohen is a guy that the Gonzaga faithful should look out for.
