With the addition of Uche Ofoegbu and now Derrell Robertson Jr., the Dons have added two new weapons to an already dangerous roster. Although Ofoegbu and Robertson Jr. will most likely have to sit out next season, the Dons are adding pieces that could definitely help out in the future.

Robertson Jr. makes the switch from the windy city to the bay area. He played at DePaul last season, where he averaged 13 minutes per game as a sophomore under head coach Oliver Pernell. The center averaged 1.9 points and 2.6 rebounds a game last season, where he made a limited impact. Robertson Jr. is known for his defensive impact of anything else. The 6’10” center was featured as the fifth best play of the day on Sportscenter’s Top Ten plays for this impressive display of shot blocking (video below).

Robertson should be a nice sidekick to sophomore big men Mark Tollefsen and Tao Zu. He is big and physical and will give a boost to the Dons low post defense. Although he likely will not be able to play until the 2014-2015 season, Robertson Jr. will play a significant role on the practice court, and will test the active players a great deal. Rex Walter’s and his staff are doing a fantastic job of adding depth and filling the Dons roster year in and year out.
