BYU and Santa Clara experienced a great deal of postseason success this season, but for Kevin Foster and Brandon Davies, their season is not quite over. Foster and Davies will participate in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, which showcases some of the top collegiate seniors in front of pro scouts. 64 players are selected to this tournament, where they are divided up between 8 teams. There are 12 games that are played throughout the duration of the tournament, which is 5 days long. Players such as Rick Berry, Earl Monroe, Scottie Pippin, Dave Cowens, and Gonzaga’s beloved John Stockton have all participated in the PIT. Foster and Davies will have a chance to make a name for themselves, and find a spot on an NBA roster.
Foster will be playing on the Portsmouth Sports Club team, which is coached by Mark Hall and Wilt Webb. His team should experience a great deal of success, because it’s loaded with talent. Foster is joined in the back court by Florida’s Mike Rosario, and Washington’s Abdul Gaddy. Foster has a good chance to lead not only his team in scoring, but the entire tournament field, because of his innate ability to score.
Davies will be playing for the K&D Round’s Landscaping team coach by Jim Markey and Patrick Dulin. This is another team that should be extremely successful. The K&D Round’s Landscaping team has a loaded backcourt, that consists of Mark Lyons of Arizona, Ian Clark of Belmont, and Elijah Johnson of Kansas. The NBA assistant coach of this team is the great Scottie Pippin, so Davies must be excited to play in front of an NBA legend.
The tournament starts on Wednesday night. Davies and the K&D Round’s Landscaping team will play at 4PM PT in the opening game of the tournament on Wednesday evening. Foster and the Portsmouth Sport Club team will play at 4PM PT on Thursday Night.
